Our Quilt-A-Thon volunteers made over 50 quilts this year!

Thank you to everyone who spent time cutting, piecing, sandwiching, ironing, tying and every other step that goes into this monumental effort. You are SEW appreciated!!

Each year Ben Franklin Crafts celebrates National Quilting Day by bringing community volunteers together to assemble quilts for donation. This year we will be working together with our volunteers on Saturday, March 18th from 9:00am until 5:30pm and Sunday, March 19th from 10:00am until 4:30pm. Donated quilting fabric, batting, threads, and backings are put to good use by our volunteers throughout the weekend. All finished quilts are then donated to local charities and organizations to help those in need.

Our volunteers help cut, press and piece the quilts. If you are interested in volunteering, please come for as little or as long as you can. Every little bit helps! Bring along:

  • your own sewing machine if you would like to work on piecing
  • thread (some threads available to share, also)
  • scissors

We will have extension cords, irons and ironing boards, rulers, cutters and everything else that’s required to put the quilts together. If you don’t sew, we’re happy to put you to work cutting fabric, ironing, sandwiching and tying the quilts, too!

We also accept your donations of quilting fabric, batting, backings and thread. These donations can be dropped off at the Customer Service desk at Ben Franklin Crafts anytime during our normal business hours.

We appreciated the continued support of our customers & volunteers to make this event a meaningful community outreach. We hope you will share some of your time and talents with us to warm the hearts of our quilt recipients.
