Shape eraser clay into fun little creatures, then create a miniature house for them to live in. Klutz kits have so much design inspiration!
Making eraser clay creatures was a super fun craft! So much so, that we forgot to take and pictures on class day! You’ll get the idea just fine from reading through the information below.
You will need the following items to make this Summer Crafts 4 Kids project – available at Ben Franklin Crafts!
- Klutz “Make Mini Erasers” kit and/or Sculpey Eraser clay
- Paper mache container
- Assorted scrapbook paper pieces
- Paint brush
- Sharpie marker (optional)
You will also need:
- Paper to cover your workspace
- Small cups to hold paint
- Baking sheet
- Aluminum foil
Start out with one of these kits from our Kids Craft aisle. You find tons of step-by-step directions and enough clay to make 12-15 erasers in each box. We used the Aliens, Animals & Cuties.
We supplemented the clay in the Klutz kits with Sculpey Eraser Clay.
The mini house for your eraser pets is super simple to create!
- Paint the lid
- Cut paper to fit and glue it on.
- Write words on the top if you like. Ours says “Home Sweet Home.”
The final step requires adult supervision. Bake erasers on an aluminum foil line cookie sheet at 250 degrees for 20 minutes per quarter inch of thickness. For most of the erasers we made, an hour or more of baking time was required. Let cool before using!
We would love to see a picture of your finished project! Upload to our Facebook page.
